Mammary Surgery: Augmentation and Reduction for a Natural and Harmonious Beauty

Breast surgery comprises a series of procedures that women can follow to feel better. Among them, augmentation mammoplasty, reduction mammoplasty, post-oncological breast reconstruction with prosthesis, with autologous fat and microsurgical flaps, mastopexy with and without prosthesis, tuberous breast and breast asymmetry.

In our cosmetic surgery clinic in Ibiza we perform these types of interventions by the hand of the best specialists. We invite you to discover them in detail.

Types of breast surgery

Breast surgery, as such, is a surgical procedure used to change the size, shape or appearance of the breasts.

Each woman has her own reasons for having it done, since it can be for medical or aesthetic reasons, or both.

There are different types of interventions within this category. But each case is unique and it is important to talk to the plastic surgeon to learn about the options available, as well as possible complications.

These are the body surgery treatments we perform in Ibiza:

Augmentation mammoplasty

Augmentation mammoplasty, also known as breast augmentation surgery or breast implants, is a surgical procedure in which breast implants are placed in the breast to increase its size and improve its shape.

These implants can be silicone or saline and can be placed under the breast tissue or pectoralis muscle.

The objective of mammoplasty is to increase the size of the breasts, to improve the proportion with the body, to improve its appearance or simply to increase self-esteem.

Reduction mammoplasty

In the opposite wing to the augmentation mammoplasty, we find the reduction mammoplasty. It is an intervention recommended for women who have too much breast and seek to achieve a more proportionate size, to help alleviate back problems and / or improve their self-esteem.

In this procedure what is done is to remove excess breast tissue, fat and skin. It can also be performed in conjunction with a breast lift procedure.

Post-oncology breast reconstruction with prosthesis, autologous fat and microsurgical flaps.

Breast reconstruction surgery is a surgical procedure performed after a mastectomy (breast removal) due to breast cancer.

The goal of post-oncologic breast reconstruction is to restore the original size and shape of the removed breast, to improve appearance and regain self-esteem, since it can be very hard for a woman.

It can be performed in several ways, depending on the case. For example, in our clinic we perform reconstruction with prosthesis, autologous fat and microsurgical flaps.

Mastopexy with and without prosthesis

Another type of breast surgery is mastopexy. It is a procedure that is also known as breast lift and is intended to improve the shape of sagging or flaccid breasts.

In mastopexy with prosthesis a breast implant is placed along with the breast lift. In this way it is possible to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts at the same time.

While mastopexy without prosthesis involves making an incision in the breast and remove excess skin and breast tissue. The areola is repositioned and the breast tissue is lifted in order to improve the shape of the breast.

In both cases the aim is to improve the appearance of the breasts and achieve a firmer and more youthful shape. Depending on the results that the patient wishes to achieve.

Tuberous Breast

A tuberous breast is a breast that has an abnormal or “tubular” shape due to abnormal development of the breast tissues.

They are usually smaller than normal and have a conical shape, with the areola part being quite large and a small distance between the two breasts. They can also present a lack of symmetry or even have a protrusion in the submammary fold.

This surgical procedure improves the shape of abnormal breasts and gives them a more natural and symmetrical aesthetic. To do this, the abnormal shape of the breasts is corrected, the size of the areola is reduced and its position is improved.

Each case can be treated differently depending on each woman.

The fat is aspirated through cannulas and then injected in other sites. For example, it can be used to increase the size of the breasts or buttocks.

Mammary asymmetry

Breast asymmetry refers to breasts that have different sizes or shapes. This can occur for various reasons, either due to uneven development of the breast tissue, a difference in the size of the breast ducts, or a difference in the size of the areolas.

This problem can be mild or severe. But above all, it can cause physical and psychological problems for the woman. For example, difficulty in finding clothes that fit well or self-esteem problems.

In this surgical procedure a more symmetrical appearance can be achieved and different types of surgery can be performed, such as breast reduction, breast lift, breast implant placement, among others.
